Teaching and Learning with TORCH is a hands-on, practical resource for analysing student performance with TORCH and planning teaching and learning activities to develop students' reading comprehension. The book includes copy masters of the new student Summary Sheets and descriptions of four effective classroom teaching methods: Guided Silent Reading, Read and Retell, Three Level Guide and Cloze for Understanding.
Teaching and Learning with TORCH provides teachers with a bridge from testing to teaching and includes: An item by item analysis of each TORCH test, placing them into three broad bands: LOCATE, INTERPRET and USE. A new Summary Sheet for each TORCH test allowing the teacher to see clearly what type of reading comprehension items a particular student has answered correctly or incorrectly, assisting them to plan teaching and learning strategies Detailed descriptions and worked examples of four teaching methods which may be used to improve student reading comprehension.
