Vital Signs: Creative Practice & New Media Now
Widespread access to digital media, the internet, mobile phones and the continual expansion of computing power and parallel miniaturisation of media technologies has led to profound changes in both social interaction and contemporary culture.
As well as exploring the range of new media and interdisciplinary creative practice across Australia, the Vital Signs conference aims to address key questions, such as:
- What are the challenges for artists, filmmakers and new media practitioners in a rapidly changing technological and funding landscape?
- What are the aesthetic possibilities of interdisciplinary approaches?
- How might exhibition spaces and critical writings respond to these art projects?
Vital Signs is a national refereed conference, edited by Lyndal Jones, Pauline Anastasiou, Karen Trist and Rhonda Smithies.
