Supporting Australian Defence Force Peacekeepers and Their Families: The Case of East Timor

Supporting Australian Defence Force Peacekeepers and Their Families: The Case of East Timor is a report by Philip Siebler about how Australian Defence Force personnel and their families perceived support during deployment to East Timor as seen through the eyes of the main protagonists - the personnel who deployed and their partners who remained in Australia.

The current report was a project arising out of the author's PhD in social work. The deployment provided a unique and timely opportunity to investigate, examine and analyse the parallel experiences of the deployed member and the family remaining behind.

The overarching aim of this qualitative research project is to increase understanding of the experience of what it means to a deployed and non-deployed spouse to be supported through all stages of an overseas deployment.
