God, the Devil and a Millennium of Christian Culture had its origins in a symposium organised by the Department of History at the University of Melbourne. This book includes a number of revised versions of these papers as well as some new commissioned articles. It covers a broad consideration of the collective and social impact of Christianity and the significant ways in which it has shaped the lives and communities of different people during the last millennium.
