International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Research Reports 1998: Volume 1
IELTS Australia decided some years ago to allocate funding for research into the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Qualitative information was required on a range of issues, particularly those affecting the continuing reliability and standing of the test. The Board was confident that the results of such research would assist English language professionals and teachers to develop a greater knowledge and understanding of the test.
The first step in the process was to select the most worthwhile research from the large number of submissions received. Work began in 1996 and this is the first volume of reports from such research. Two further volumes, dealing with the present phase of the research will be published in 1998-99.
