Women and Work: Current RMIT University Research

This monograph comprises a collection of papers that arose from the attempt by a group of RMIT academics interested in the topic of women and work to develop communication channels within the University across disciplines and between academics at different stages of their research journeys.

Women & Work suggests the broad and rich terrain that can be travelled by those interested in the topic of 'women and work'. Several of the papers highlight the complexity of women's lives, the tenuous balance between paid work and 'private' lives. Many of the papers remind us that policy decisions are often simplistic approaches to a complex problem. All of the papers remind us that while women may be disadvantaged, they are not victims, rather they are actively engaged in sharing and controlling their own lives.

Women & Work is a joint publication of the Centre for Applied Social Research, School of Social Science and Planning and the School of Management, Business at RMIT University.
