Australasian Coasts & Ports 2017: Working with Nature

The Australasian Coasts & Ports 2017 conference was an amalgamation of the 23rd Australasian Coastal and Ocean Engineering Conference and the 16th Australasian Port and Harbour Conference. It was organised by the National Committee for Coastal and Ocean Engineering, Engineers Australia, PIANC Australia and the Institute of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ).

The 2017 Conference theme "Working with Nature" reflects the increasing recognition of the need to design and operate projects from a perspective that places the natural environment at the forefront of the project, to benefit the community and nature.

An increasing awareness of the value for ecosystem services, both marine and terrestrial, complements this philosophy, and provides opportunity for maximising the benefits of multi-disciplinary collaboration between engineers, scientists and regulatory bodies.
