Informit shares expert knowledge at ALIA National Conference

Keynote speaker Barbara Schack from Libraries Without Borders presenting at ALIA.

Informit recently exhibited at the ALIA National 2016 Conference in Adelaide, run by the Australian Library and Information Association.

ALIA provides a meeting point for all Library and Information professionals, from all sectors and all areas of Australia and the international community.

The team at Informit used the opportunity to invite suppliers and customers to a pre-conference networking function.

Guest of honour was Pru Mitchell from the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), one of Informit’s longstanding partners.

Drinks and canapés were served while attendees heard from Informit Business Development and Production experts on the latest innovations including syndication and updates to media products, Informit EduTV and TVNews.

Informit Senior Business Development Manager, John Nuutinen, said the event provided unparalleled opportunities to collaborate, network and build partnerships among Informit’s colleagues, peers and industry leaders.

“The ALIA National Conference not only enables us to support this peak body but also exchange ideas with its member base in a collaborative and positive environment,” he said.

“We’re already enthusiastically planning ahead for next year’s event.”

This year’s event, themed ‘Engage, Create, Lead’ encouraged discussions on adding value to libraries and communities, how to actively participate in creative initiatives and how to maintain and grow relevance within the community through change and leadership.

Over 80 speakers shared their experience and knowledge in a program of more than 25 sessions spanning five days.

Conference attendees were inspired by presentations including that from Libraries Without Borders, who shared their international call to action for books and information resources in humanitarian emergencies, and the importance of access for all to information, education and culture.
