Informit exhibits at national VALA conference

The 18th biennial VALA conference was recently held over three days in Melbourne at the Convention & Exhibition Centre. 

VALA2016 is attended by specialists, managers and leading edge thinkers working in information and technology in the GLAM (galleries, libraries, archives and museums) sectors, and attracted more than 1,000 participants.

VALA’s theme of ‘Libraries, Technology and the Future’, invited wide discussion, discourse and discovery.

Informit was represented by Senior Business Development Manager, John Nuutinen, Business Development Manager, Emma Barker and Client Relationship Executive, Emma Juniper.

Discussions with customers included how to continue to evolve the Informit Collections and Media databases including Informit EduTV, which contains over 28,000 programs including documentaries, drama and series.

John Nuutinen commented on the value of this year’s event.

“The VALA 2016 conference provided Informit with a unique opportunity to engage our customers in meaningful dialogue; collaborate with key industry influencers; and interact with the library community at large,” he said.

“It’s an event we look forward to every two years.”

Members of Informit’s production team also attended this year’s event. This team comprises of librarians and other information experts who manage Informit’s content and metadata.

VALA supports advancement of knowledge and professional development through its boot camps, information sessions and workshops.

These covered a range of topics including linked open data, digital preservation and research data management.

The conference is recognised as the premier library and information technology conference within the region, and attracts delegates and exhibitors from across Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and worldwide.
