Search

User logins are valid for 6 months. After this period, a password reset will be emailed to the user once an attempt is made to sign in. If a user does not sign in after a 12 month period, their account will be deleted.

No. Informit EduTV is accessed via any browser on an internet enabled computer.

No. However, Informit EduTV will use Adobe Flash player if it is installed.

Yes. Video playback is supported by all iOS and Android devices.

Yes. 

Note: iPhones play video in full-screen which obscures the clip point markers. You will need to exit full-screen in order to select clip points. You can create clips on an iPad. 

To exit full-screen mode on an Android device:

  1. Tap or touch the screen. 
  2. A minimise/maximise icon will be displayed on the left of the screen. 
  3. Tap the minimise/maximise icon on the left of the screen. 
  4. The video size will change.

 

Use the video links generated in the share buttons to create a video link.

For example, this link contains proxy server details and will authenticate via the user’s institutional login:

https://login.ezproxy.lib.rmit.edu.au/login?url=http://edutv2.switchmedia.asia/watch-screen.php?videoID=817798.

The interface allows the user to share video links via email, Facebook and Twitter.

You need to be logged in with your username to see the My Favourites and My Clip Playlist tabs.

A simple search will look for any of the search terms in the program record. All fields are searched, including captions. By default, the results will be sorted by relevance.

An advanced search provides additional options to focus your search. Here you may search for exact phrases. You may limit your search to a specific subject area and broadcast date, and you can specify what metadata fields are searched, i.e. title, description, captions.

The creation of the graphic thumbnail is an automated process that captures an image a few seconds into a program. In some cases a black screen is captured.

Closed captions are available for most programs from free to air channels. Look for the CC symbol.

Closed captions are not available for programs from Foxtel channels.

For programs that were not broadcast with Closed Captions, Informit can create Captions on request.

Logging in as an administrator gives you the option to view all registered users of Informit EduTV from your institution. You can directly add registered users and email individuals their login details or reset passwords. You can also email yourself all user details in CSV format. You can also analyse video usage on your site, via the Analytics link.
