Use the video links generated in the share buttons to create a video link. If your institution uses a proxy server for authentication, use the Share external URL link.

For example, this link will take the user directly to the video page of the program:

http://edutv.informit.com.au/watch-screen.php?videoID=243898.

In an IP authenticated site, the authorised user will have immediate access. If the user is off site then they will need to login before they can access the video.

This link contains proxy server details and will authenticate via the user’s institutional login:

https://login.ezproxy.lib.rmit.edu.au/login?url=http://edutv2.switchmedia.asia/watch-screen.php?videoID=817798.

The interface allows the user to share video links via email, Facebook and Twitter.

Yes. Most devices will support the creation of clips. Unfortunately the iPhone will not, as the media player defaults to full screen mode, thus obscuring the clip creation control. You can create clips on an iPad.

There will be a delay before a program will play while the video is being copied for the first time to your institute’s streaming folder—the longer the video, the longer the delay. A 2 hour movie may take up to 15 seconds to copy. Additionally, a slow internet connection will delay the start of playback.

Clips that are based on video segments at the end of a program may take some time to buffer. The time taken will depend on your connection and the length of the program. You may see a white screen above the player controls during this time.

You need to be logged in with your username to see the My Favourites and My Clip Playlist tabs.

A simple search will look for any of the search terms in the program record. All fields are searched, including captions. By default, the results will be sorted by relevance.

An advanced search provides additional options to focus your search. Here you may search for exact phrases. You may limit your search to a specific subject area and broadcast date, and you can specify what metadata fields are searched, i.e. title, description, captions.

All these words are stop words and therefore are ignored by the search engine. Use Advanced Search and select Exact phrase.

The creation of the graphic thumbnail is an automated process that captures an image a few seconds into a program. In some cases a black screen is captured.

Logging in as an administrator gives you the option to view all registered users of Informit EduTV from your institution. You can directly add registered users and email individuals their login details or reset passwords. You can also email yourself all user details in CSV format.
